If you've been following Haven Home, you know that we moved our furniture store from our former location on Colorado across the street to a new 3,000-foot showroom in the Old Mill Marketplace in Bend, Oregon! We also changed the name of Haven Home Design to Haven Home Style.

Yes...the Season is almost upon us....you know which one I mean...the Holidays! Gathering together with friends and family is what it is all about. To help you with setting the stage for that dinner or party, Haven Home has stocked up on elegant serving pieces by Gracious Goods. Those of you who already collect or admire Gracious Goods must come down and see their fabulous Punch Bowl, Soup Tureen or Pastry Tray...and of course the Beverage Servers are great for any party!

Haven Home is also starting to deck itself out for the holidays with fun ornaments, holiday pillows and other decorations. Come by....have a ginger snap and enjoy the holiday spirit with Haven Home.

When life gets rough….there is always Chocolate!

With the daily doses of jittery (to say the least) financial markets, dismal economic news and the constant barrage of news from hotly contested elections, it is natural to want to seek comfort and calm in our homes (if you can escape campaign commercials). Providing a cozy home environment is what we at Haven Home are all about….we have a little bit of everything…all for the home, but we have added something new to help stave off the blues and brighten your outlook – Chocolate! Chocolate, especially dark chocolate contains flavonoids which can help relax blood pressure, seratonins which act as an antidepressant, and it stimulates endorphin production which gives a feeling of pleasure….ok…this last one is not really “news” to dedicated chocoholics.

From now through the Holidays, we will be offering (and taking special orders for) delicious and wonderful treats from Fiori Chocolatiers of Bellvue, Washington. Fiori makes small batches of unique Italian-styled artisan chocolates with only the finest ingredients. We will be offering Fiori’s:

Tortinis - chocolate rounds with roasted pistachios, hazlenuts or candied orange;

Chocolate Dipped Figs – figs marinated in rum and Tahitian Vanilla, filled with 65% cacao ganache, covered with 71% cacao chocolate, and finally dusted with 100% pure cacao powder and organic cinnamon;

Chocolate Bars – featuring dark and extra dark cacao (did I mention these are wonderful with a glass of Merlot?); and

Peperoncino Spicy Drinking Chocolate - a wonderful blend of cacao and spices with undertones of cinnamon, allspice and hot pepper…the perfect beverage to sip in front of the fire on a cold winter evening.

And for those that prefer to enjoy their chocolate calorie free….have you experienced our Chocolate Candles yet? Our first orders went so fast we had to order more….and it is often one of the first things our customers notice when the come into the store “It smells so good in here….is that chocolate?” These come in a variety of sizes from votives to pillars, and while they may not provide the antioxidants, the scent definitely kicks in the endorphins.

So….before opening that 401K statement….light a candle…and have a bar of dark chocolate or mug of Peperoncino drinking chocolate by your side……

Sid Dickens Retiring Memory Blocks

The clock is ticking towards the retirement date of another 19 of Sid Dickens' amazing designs...of course if you add in two of his Holiday releases, a total of 21 memory blocks will be no longer available after December 1, 2008! Here is the list of retiring tiles:

You can also see them at the Sid Dickens website - http://www.siddickens.com/. Of course we have (most) of them on the wall here at the store. They include some of the most popular blocks that we sell such as Monaco Rose (T93)and Melody (T138). So come in soon and get them before they are gone....or order your favorites because after December 1....we cannot order them anymore! We never know why they choose the ones to retire that they do.

This is also the perfect time of year to be thinking about that Sid collector on your Holiday list....or perhaps you want to get someone started with their collection. Drop on by and check out the Sid walls in our store...we always try to keep an excellent selection (and for those of you reading this from out of the area....give us a call...we ship almost anywhere).
